What's a reasonable price to pay for wedding photography in NYC?
I keep finding photographers I like, and they keep quoting me prices between 5-6 thousand, for 8 hours of work. Is that standard? It's not completely un-doable, but it seems a little excessive to me.
That all depends on the packages they are offering and how many photographers you are getting.
I got a photographer and videographer all day for my wedding with no time limit for about $4K. It included ownership of all wedding proofs and video, 3 albums and guaranteed at least 400 pictures (I got 800!). They were fantastic and travel all over the area to photograph and do a combo of posed and photojournalistic style photography. They are LI based, so if you want their names and info e-mail me.
However, that price seems pretty steep for photography if it's just the bare bones. I would suggest looking around a little and comparing. You can check out www.nycityweddings.com which is a great resource for brides and for wedding planning. They have chat forums too where the girls are all really helpful and give great recommendations.
