How to find a wedding photographer in Jamaica?
Hello everyone,
My fiance and I are getting married at the Sandals Resort in Ocho Rois, Jamaica March 2011. The Sandals resort offers a wedding photography package but it is very very expensive and only includes 42 photos. The 42 photos is fine because it will only be the groom and I. We are doing a destination wedding and rolling our honeymoon into one. We will have a reception for everyone when we get back to the States.
I am looking for a photographer for our wedding date to just take pictures during the wedding and a handful of pictures afterwards at different locations throughout the resort.
Has anyone had a destination wedding and have answers to these questions and any tips/hints on finding a photographer in Jamaica or would I be best to spend the crazy amount of money the resort is asking and go through their photographer?

Sandals resorts do not allow you to use any photographer other than their own in-house 'snappers'. Also, you will probably only receive prints of the 42 images, not the digital files, meaning if you want copies on your computer, you will have to have them scanned, which is never great. It also means you'll have to pay their very very expensive print rates if you want more than one copy of the prints!
If photographs of your day are high on your list of important items (some people aren't that bothered, to others its critical they have those memories) then you may want to look at alternative venues for your wedding.
You can find some great alternatives at websites like http://www.islandbrides.com/ (a totally free resource on wedding planning in the Caribbean) and ask for advice from other past brides in the forums there.
