Different Photography Terminologies

Aberration:

Set of flaws inherent in the images of the lenses in Digital Photography. The aberration includes astigmatism, barrel distortion, coma, spherical aberration and chromatic aberration. The composite lenses reduce minimum aberration.

Inability of a goal to play a perfect image in the form and sharpness of a subject properly focused. The composite structures significantly reduce aberrations, varying the degree of correction with lens quality.

Chromatic aberration:

Inability of a lens to focus different colors in the same focal plane

Aperture:

Hole located near or within target. Controls the amount of light passing through with a variable diameter, calibrated in f-/. (2.8 - 4 to 5.6 - 8 - 16 -32 etc.)

In some cameras, the extent of the aperture is fixed, in others it is a hole in a mechanism called diaphragm whose diameter can be varied.

Accelerator

Ingredient developers-normal alkali, which increases the speed of the process by promoting the activity of the reducing agent in digital photography.

Approach, fitting:

Accessory that reduces the minimum focusing distance of the target. These accessories include pipes, bellows and additional objectives.

Acetic

Compound used in the stop bath (normally 2%) and acid fixers. In the latter case is often added a stopper (sodium metabisulfite) to prevent the acidic decomposition of thiosulfate used as a fixative in digital photography .

Rinse:

Brief wash in water between two stages of a processing cycle that reduces the contamination of some solutions to others.

Achromatic:

Objective corrected for chromatic aberration. Achromatic system is to associate a converging lens to a diverging get a partial correction of chromatic aberration.

Actinides:

Property of light that is altering the nature of the materials on the incident.

Acutance:

Objective physical measure of the sharpness of a photographic image.

Additive color synthesis:

Procedure of forming color images by mixing in suitable proportions red, blue and green (primary).

Additives, systems:

Color reproduction systems by mixing primary light.

Airbrush:

Editing tool that sprays a pigment by air.

Agent humidifier

Compound, used in small amounts, reduces the surface tension of water. Usually appended to the washing of films, plates and papers to facilitate drainage and prevent drying stains.

Agitation:

Activity which aims to ensure contact of the emulsion with fresh solution during processing.

New solution method to contact the surface of sensitive materials during the photographic process. Of particular importance for the development of negatives and positives and the first moments of the set. In some materials is essential to follow the manufacturer's instructions and that will affect the contrast.

Highlight:

Term that refers to the lighter areas of the subject, represented in the negative by dense deposits of black metallic silver, and positivism represented as white areas

Extension:

Copies larger than the negative item.

Enlarger:

Instrument that projected a negative onto a sheet of sensitized paper. The degree of enlargement varies with the distance between the negative and paper.

Anamorphic, objective:

Objective which compresses the image in a plane.

Herschel:

Target compound that reduces optical aberrations, especially astigmatism.

Angle of incidence:

Angle between the direction of a light beam and perpendicular to the reflecting surface. Equals the angle of reflection.

Angle of reflection:

Angle between the direction of a reflected light beam and perpendicular to the reflecting surface. Equals the angle of incidence.

Angulo-making:

It is the largest angle at which the target and captures an image projected onto the film plane while retaining acceptable quality.

Newton's rings:

Colored concentric rings occur when two flat surfaces and partially transparent contact. It is frequently observed in frames with glass slides and the negative carrier with glass.

Halation, layer:

Light-absorbing layer located at the rear of the base of the film or between it and the emulsion and prevents the reflection of light that has passed through the emulsion.

ASA / ISO:

Initial American Standards Association, which indicate the light sensitivity of the film. The higher the ASA number, the greater the sensitivity. The ASA scale is arithmetic: 400 ASA is a double sensitivity 200 ASA.

Astigmatism:

Aberration focusing parallel rays that reach the goal line and not at a point. Increase. Relationship between image size and subject size, or relationship between the distance target-target subject image. When the subject and its image are the same size, the increase is x 1.
