Different Equipments Required in a Green Screen Studio

A well equipped studio for photography is the one that is used for creating magnetic pictures and videos. A good photographer needs to create an appropriate environment for film making or picture making. A studio where green screen photography is performed by a photographer is called green screen studio. Here, a subject is placed against a green or blue background and he enacts a scene or strikes a pose as per the requirement.

What is green screen photography?

This is also called chroma key effect. In this kind of picture making, a photographer can digitally replace the background image of the subject by any other image. In this process, the background image is superimposed or merged with any other image or picture with the help of a video editing tool. You can use either green or blue color as the background as these are the two colors which are farthest from the human skin tone. Second reason is that a camera lens is sensitive to these two colors. Green color is mainly used because it is good at masking during the process of applying chroma key effect. You can use this form of picture making for tutorials, shooting for films or documentaries and for other such purposes.

What are the equipments required for such a studio?

You need to have high quality equipments in your green screen studio kit. A good photographer keeps a high quality point-and-shoot camera or any good SLR (Single Lens Reflex) camera according to the requirement. Keeping full digital SLR camera is a better option as it has the feature of interchangeable lenses. Keeping a muslin green or blue cloth is significant while chroma keying. You can also keep a green screen body suit which your actor can wear and you can manipulate the image by making him turn invisible. You can keep amber gel sheets or butterfly sheets for visual effect. Flood lights are one of the basic things to keep. However, studio lights are better as they make use of reflectors called umbrellas and softboxes for effects. All these are the main equipments that should be present in your studio.
