Selling my photography on nyc streets, what do I need to know?
I am under the assumption that I do not need a vending license but I do need Tax ID card so I am acquiring this now. I just want to know if there is something I need to be aware of, friendly advice or anything like that would help me greatly, also don't come in here all gun ho saying we ruin the city with bad overpriced tourist merchandise because I will not be doing that, here is some of my work, this is the type of stuff I will be selling: http://insidemyeyes.aminus3.com/portfolio/
Basically not tons of crappy fake street signs or photos of 100's of empire state buildings....Hopefully this does not mean I wont sell :-/
Also what would be a good place to set up, I was thinking more near a museum or a gallery, more non touristy spots.
I would be willing to bet you will need a vending license. I would also think they would have designated spots where you could sell, not just set up on any corner you like.
You really need to check with all of the licensing and ordinances for the city. The fines for selling without a license are not worth the risk.

Their focus centered on New York City and its vibrant streets—a newsboy at work, a brass band on a bustling corner, a crowded beach at Coney Island. Though beautiful, the images harbor strong social commentary on issues of class, child labor, and opportunity. ... |
