What speed film is appropriate for indoor photography without a flash?

200 or 400? I usually use 400 because the lighting varies. To take pictures without flash indoors can turn really bad usless you use a lot of lighting for less dark backrounds. Also it depends on your camera too, if it's a digital camera and what type of lens.
