How do you get these kind of lighting with a Film Camera?
What color should I meter off of?
I'm in highschool and new at this stuff. Just recently joined photography, and I'm thinking about entering this regional state photography contest. I'm thinking about a self portrait/portrait of others that tells a story, keeping it simple..
Advices are appreciated. (:

(doing black and white)
And I think these photos are amazing.
1st one Is natural light from the window .
2nd shot there is a square reflection in the lady's eye. So a square light soure was used on coming from the left side of the photo. Either a soft box or a window. The light apears to be natural and not a soft box to me.
3rd is diffenately difussed light from above. Probally a light tent with the light sourse directly above to slightly to the rear. Look at the light spots on the eggs and the shadows below them.
4th one, I'm not quite sure the lighting is different on the hands and the face, Even the knuckles and nose are not lighted the same even thoug they are touching. But the lighting on the hands is diffitenately from above.
5th one is good old overcast sky.
