Amateur looking for advice?
Hello, I am a high school junior and I am looking into photography as a major in college. I have been doing traditional B&W photography for a year now, I have my own darkroom. I have a Canon Rebel K2 and XTi.
I am looking for books/sites/anything that can help me improve my photography. My photo teacher in school is on maternity leave so I have nobody to turn to for advice. Are there any good books or podcasts or tutorials you can recommend?
I really want to improve my understanding of aperature and shutter speeds, sometimes I am unsure of what to use and just use auto-focus.
Another problem is finding subjects to shoot. I cannot drive and live about 60 miles east of NYC. I can go there occasionally, but usually I am stuck at home. Any suggestions on what I can shoot to improve my techniques?
Oh, my gah.
thank you for asking.
(i also, would like to know)

so, i don't really have anything to tell you.
i can't really help much.
but, really all you can do is take pictures of the little things that catch your eyes. go to a local park, parks a filled with photogenic things and people. or take a stroll around the block. take pictures of inanimate objects, or do portraits of your friends and family. really anything. just give the your viewers another way of looking at the world around you.
also, try looking at someone Else's work, for inspiration.
don't copy them though!
well, good luck.
DD
