Photography.. I've been proven where my exposure compensation button is today however i have no idea why its there.?
I had been proven as i've got a Nikon D40 which wont autobracket for HDR shots, and so i was proven how you can tke one photo normal the other 2 stops eaither side while using exposure compenstion button...
What else would i apply it. Im sure it had not been put there only for HDR.
Its put there since the meter assumes a middle gray and frequently that won't enable you to get the exposure you would like. Actually you will find many occasions the meter is wrong since your photo isn't 18% gray. A good example could be shots taken within vibrant sky on snow. Despite the fact that there's a lot whitened your camera attempts to meter as though the scene was 18% greySo exposure compensation allows you correct/set the meter therefore it sets exposure values as though there's pretty much light compared to meter is seeing
With film I had been frequently trained to reveal right. That actually works with digital also. Should you shoot in RAW and also the lights are finicky set a little amount negative exposure compensation (.3-.5). This can help prevent you from getting clipped highlights, as well as in RAW you are able to still boost the exposure later on. A positive exposure compensation could be useful for enhancing the signal to noise ratio in situations in which the highlights aren't at risk of being clipped.
