What's this known as? Would like to learn ways to use the camera - which kind of books must i be searching for?

I simply got a camera. It's my first "real" camera, and I have only ever used a place-and-shoot before. I wish to exceed the info within the manual that will only let me know in which the f-stop button is or how you can alter the shutter speed. I'm learning When you should alter the f-stop button and under what conditions so when to alter the shutter speed and also to what and why. Ideally I would like to look for a book or perhaps a workbook which will have projects which will explore a purpose of your camera and can develop understanding acquired in the past sections. The issue is I'm not sure what something of that nature could be known as, so I'm not sure things to search under in Amazon . com or on the web. Is the fact that a "Photography Course" or what? Thanks.
